News and features

The shortlist for the 2010 Colin Roderick Award, awarded for an outstanding work dealing with Australian life, has been announced. Notable names include Sonya Hartnett, Alex Miller, Anna Goldsworthy, and the late Dorothy Porter.

Efforts are being made by Japanese and US manga publishers to stop the growing trend of scanlations, which involve manga being scanned and uploaded to websites.

Ingram has announced that in 2011 it will establish a full-service print and production service in Australia, reports Bookseller and Publisher Online.

Steven Spielberg is reportedly looking to step up to direct the film adaptation of the popular childrens series 39 Clues.

Interviews

Peter Munro chats with Tim Flannery, author of the runaway bestseller The Weathermakers, about his new book Here on Earth: An Argument for Hope, which is a twin biography of our species and our planet.
