JRR Tolkiens'childrens classic The Hobbit is reviewed over at Tor.com. The verdict? Like Gumby and Samurai Pizza Cats, it retains some value, but really is a good deal better when youre eight. Ill be rereading The Hobbit as well as LotR over the next few months, so Ill be interested to see if I feel the same way!
Over at Conversational Reading, Scott and his readers take a look at Helen De Whitts The Last Samurai. There seems to be a touch of drooling and head-nodding going on over De Whitts use of language and layering.
