Over the past few months RIASS has revisited the work of Jules Verne and its fair to say that weve enjoyed the voyage immensely. Over this period weve reviewed a handful of his best-known titles, with more to come in the not-so-distant future, and spent a good deal of time musing on Vernes endless optimism, his desire to explore as much of the known world as possible through print, and most notably'his penchant for cleverly disguising classroom lectures as stories.
Weve remarked on this last a number of times, and so it seemed only fitting when the website Voyages Jules Verne approached us with this fabulous accompanying infographic for Journey to the Centre of the Earth. So if your eyes glazed over during those expositional passages, heres your chance to make amends! Have a scroll and take in some science and a seriously abridged (but very pretty) version of the plot of Journey.
(Of course, if you want the wordier version, you can check out our review here. Our other Verne reviews can be found here.)
