I quite enjoyed The Empress of Ice-Cream, and felt that it was quite a bit stronger than this one. This one had a lot of potential, but just never really pulled together into a tight narrative. I am still intending to read Empress of Ice Cream, and will be hoping that this book was just an anomaly and not how his future novels are going to be.
